The SFV is file format for store the CRC32 checksums of files. This format first has been introduced by the WinSFV program and widely used in binary newsgroups, MP3 and ISO exchange networks and other communities.
It is necessary to notice, that a format has some disadvantages. First of all, very fast, but not so reliable simple (not cryptographic) checksum algorithm is used. Second, the structure of a file is chosen not so good. It's designed for old, DOS-style file names convention. In case of use of long file names may arise some ambiguitys.
